The Independent Petroleum Association of America is pleased to present our Economic Reports - a diverse and complete picture of the industry continually updated throughout the year. This collection of indispensable publications will allow you to make the necessary decisions about today's competitive oil and natural gas industry.

Our Economic Reports save you money. There will be no need to subscribe to many different publications and databases. You can get all the latest industry data from one subscription to our Economic Reports. We have the time, resources, and expertise to compile and interpret the pertinent data for you.

Oil & Natural Gas Production in Your State

This unique look at the oil and natural gas industry in each of the 33 producing states is available only from IPAA. The special issue of IPAA's monthly magazine Petroleum Independent details all information covering the upstream side of the industry, including prices, production, severance taxes, industry employment, and drilling. In addition to a snapshot of the most current annual data for each state, it also contains historical information, maps and graphs. It includes summary tables on all major data series that show all states and regions for a ten-year period. This is the only publication that allows readers to turn to a two-page layout for each state and find all industry data that they would otherwise have to obtain from multiple volumes of reports or databases. A new issue is released each fall. Some of the state information has been included online for your convenience.

Survey on the International Activity of America's Independent Oil and Natural Gas Producers

Since 1992, IPAA has canvassed its membership's interest in international E&P activity as part of the Profile of Independent Producers. In 2005, the International Committee conducted a more detailed survey, expanding upon earlier data and providing more details on corporate strategy and operational tactics. Out of the 224 respondents, 21% were involved in international ventures.

Domestic Oil and Gas Trends

It is important to have a report that you can reach for to follow the monthly oil and gas trends and be confident that it includes all the latest data. It is especially important to stay up-to-date with monthly figures because the annual averages and totals do not always reflect seasonal variations. The Domestic Oil & Gas Trends is the most comprehensive and easy-to-read monthly publication available. It includes:

  • Graphs showing supply and demand trends, compared to the latest forecast issued by the IPAA Supply and Demand Committee
  • Detailed oil and natural gas data with supply and demand, prices, employment, etc.
  • Drilling tables including quarterly well completion data and footage drilled
  • IPAA's original Wholesale Oil Price series, which began in 1936. Data is shown on a weekly, monthly and annual basis for gasoline, kerosene, distillate and residual fuel oil for total U.S. and East of California

Industry Fact Sheets and Surveys

IPAA compiles two types of industry facts and figures, one on the trends the industry creates, and one on the people who create the industry. The IPAA Fact Sheets, published in February and September, is a concise summary of current facts and figures on the U.S. oil and natural gas industry, as well as the role of independents.

Our IPAA Profile of Independent Producers compiles a statistical portrait of independent oil and natural gas producers. It includes demographic, financial, and operating information as well as accompanying tables and graphs. The data is broken down by size of company to show the variations from small to large firms. IPAA also conducts various other timely surveys on issues of concern to independents.
