U.S. Oil, Gas Producers Respond to House Republicans New Energy Agenda
The House Republicans today unveiled its new energy policy – yet another big push before Memorial Day to get Congress to address America’s ever growing energy challenge.
“Congress must enact common sense legislation that will bring relief to consumers at the pump, increase domestic supply to help protect us from rising oil imports and to increase our national security,” said Barry Russell, president and CEO of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), a group that represents the companies that develop 90 percent of America’s oil and natural gas wells. “This Republican plan makes sense and it will move America’s energy future in the right direction.”
“We have an abundant supply of home grown energy resources waiting to be tapped; however, some policymakers continue to introduce and vote on policies that ban exploration and production in Alaska, off our coasts, and in the Intermountain West, which increases our reliance on foreign imports and vulnerability to unstable governments,” Russell continued.
“It is time to take our future into our own hands. We must push for sensible energy policy that will boost the American economy, increase domestic energy supply and help lower the costs of energy for American families.”
